Olympic medalists kick off annual Night to Remember charity walk
Today marks an exciting milestone for Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust as we launch Ambient Voice Technology (AVT).
The introduction of AVT is an important step in our digital journey and reflects our commitment to using technology to improve the experience of both patients and staff.
Provided by Lyrebird Health, the technology uses speech-to-text software to support clinicians in creating clinical notes and patient letters. During a consultation, the software listens to the conversation, produces a transcript and generates draft clinical documentation based on what was discussed.
Clinicians remain fully responsible for all clinical documentation. Any notes or letters generated by AVT must be reviewed, amended where necessary and approved by the clinician before being added to the patient record.
We have worked closely with partner trusts across South West London on the rollout and are proud to be the first trust to fully integrate AVT with our electronic patient record system.
The first phase of the rollout starts today in the Emergency Department, with Gastroenterology and Gynaecology Outpatients following tomorrow.

Supporting patient care and reducing administration
One of the key benefits of AVT is its ability to reduce the administrative burden associated with clinical documentation. By making note taking and letter writing more efficient, the technology can help clinicians spend less time on administration while supporting high-quality patient interactions and care.
Patient privacy and confidentiality remain a top priority. Robust safeguards are in place and clinicians remain fully responsible for reviewing and approving all documentation before it becomes part of the patient record.
