Your appointment

Allow up to 3 hours for your appointment.

Our Botox eye clinics

We run two specialist clinics for:

  • patients with disorders of eye movement and double vision
  • patients with facial and eye spasm, and squints.

When you attend, we will either:

  • discuss the option of a Botox injection, or
  • give you the injection, if it has been agreed previously and is still suitable.

Having the injection

If you have the injection during your appointment, you can expect the following.

  • Before we give you the injection, we will put drops into your eye. These drops may take up to 20 minutes to work.
  • When we have given you the injection, we will cover your eye with a patch to protect it during your journey home. You can remove the patch when you get home.

What to bring with you

Bring the following with you to your appointment:

  • Your appointment letter (if you have one).
  • Your current distance glasses (the ones you use to watch TV or drive) and any others you use.
  • Your most up-to-date eye examination prescription (sight test), if you have one.
  • A list of your current medications (including eye drops).
  • Sunglasses or a sunhat, in case we dilate your pupils (make them temporarily wider).
  • Any documentation relating to your eye condition (for example from a previous visit, or your referral letter).

Driving information

We advise you not to drive yourself to your appointment.

We may need to put eye drops in your eyes to dilate (widen) your pupils and examine the back of your eyes.

If we give you these eye drops, you will not be able to drive for at least 6 hours because you will experience temporary blurred eyesight
