Wet AMD referrals (information for optometrists)
Patients with suspected wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD) should be referred for consideration of treatment within 1 working day.
From 1 February 2026, referrals can be made directly by optometrists.
Please complete the wet AMD suspected referral form and email it directly to: krft.
Submission of fundus photographs and/or OCT scans is strongly encouraged.
Please ensure referrals are made in accordance with NICE guidance NG82.
Referrals for other conditions should be submitted via the appropriate channels (e-RS).
Acknowledgement of referrals will be sent within 48 hours, and patients will be contacted with an appointment within 7 days.
