Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- At 400% zoom, some content does not reflow correctly which may make it more difficult to use. This fails compliance with WCAG 2.2 section 1.4.10 (Reflow).
- At 200% zoom, the tab / focus order may not always make sense. This fails compliance with WCAG 2.2 section 2.4.3 (Focus order).
- At 400% zoom, some links may be partially obscured by the ‘Cookies options’ banner. This fails compliance with WCAG 2.2 section 2.4.11 (Focus not obscured).
- Some patient leaflet pages use images of text instead of text in supporting diagrams. This fails compliance with WCAG 2.2 section 1.4.5 (Images of text).
- Some images include elements with poor colour contrast to the background. This fails WCAG 2.2 section 1.4.11 (Non-text contrast).
- Many documents, particularly Board papers and reports, are in non-HTML formats, such as PDFs which do not meet the PDF Universal Accessibility standard. These may fail compliance with several WCAG 2.2 success criteria, including 1.1.1 (Non text content), 1.2.3 (Meaningful sequence), 1.3.1 (Info and relationships),1.4.3 (Contrast), 2.4.2 (Page title) and 3.1.1 (Language of page).
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Most of the PDFs on this website are corporate documents which do not relate directly to service provision or patient care.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are working to progressively fix content which fails to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. In particular, we have a programme of work to convert patient-facing PDF materials into HTML format.
In some cases, we will continue to offer a printable PDF version as an alternative to an accessible
