What type of patients are seen in the Surgical Ambulatory Assessment Unit?

Below is a summary of the criteria for suitable and excluded patients.

Suitable patients:

  • Adults aged 18+ who are independently mobile
  • Conditions that can be assessed and treated within the same day
  • General surgery and urology conditions requiring rapid assessment

Excluded patients:

  • Children and very frail patients
  • Critically unwell patients requiring emergency treatment
  • Cases needing overnight stays or complex investigations
