Audiology
Direct access GP referrals
The following Radiology tests are available via direct access for GPs:
- Plain Film (X‑ray)
- CT KUB - adult renal colic pathway
- CT Pancreas - suspected pancreatic cancer in patients aged 60+ with weight loss and any of the following: diarrhoea, back pain, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, or new‑onset diabetes
- MRI Brain (or CT Head if MRI is contraindicated) - adult chronic headache pathway
- MRI Lumbar Spine - Adult back pain (Note: Referrals from CCG East Elmbridge / Surrey Downs will not be accepted)
- MRI Knee - suspected traumatic meniscal tear / suspected traumatic ligamentous injury / persistent undiagnosed knee pain with red‑flag symptoms (Note: Referrals from CCG East Elmbridge / Surrey Downs will not be accepted)
- DEXA
- Barium Swallow
- Ultrasound
CT Heads for trauma should be referred directly to the Emergency Department.
For all other radiology examinations, please refer patients to the appropriate speciality team.
OrderComms should be used wherever it is available and should replace paper request forms.

These appointments are coordinated by the Radiology Administration Team. Patients will be contacted directly with appointment details.
Kingston Hospital outpatient X‑ray:
- Monday to Friday
- 8.30am - 5pm
Surbiton Healthcare Centre X‑ray:
(Post‑trauma spinal and hip X‑rays should not attend Surbiton)
- Monday to Friday
- 9am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.30pm
If an OrderComms request has not been submitted, patients must bring a fully completed Radiology request form.
