You have had a general anaesthetic.
This means we gave you medication that put you to sleep so you could have a procedure.

You may feel tired for a few days.
This is normal.
You should stay at home and rest.

For 24 hours (1 day), do not:

Do not drive or operate machinery.

Do not use your cooker.

Do not use your kettle.

Do not make any important decisions.
Do not sign any important documents.
Your judgement and thinking will not work as normal for a while.

Do not drink any alcohol for 24 to 48 hours.

It is okay to eat and drink normally (apart from alcohol).

You should have a responsible adult at home with you for 24 hours after your anaesthetic.
We might ask you to spend the night in hospital, before going home.
