Controlling your physical health condition(s) is important for your safety and your baby's.
Future pregnancy
We advise you to use reliable contraception so you can plan your pregnancy for a time when your physical health condition is under control.
Tell your GP or health specialist team if you are planning to have another baby. Do this before you become pregnant.
Your GP or health specialist team can advise you to ensure any medicines you currently use are safe for you to take during pregnancy.
If you become pregnant, speak to your GP before you stop taking any of your medicines.
Emotional support
Talk to your health visitor or GP if you need help. They can refer you to a specialist if needed.
You can also refer yourself to NHS Talking Therapies (see More information below).
