Mr William Maclean MB ChB MD FRCS
Biography
Mr Maclean trained at Bristol University Medical school.
He undertook early training in the Wessex deanery and has completed his General and Colorectal Surgery registrar years in South-West London Hospitals obtaining his CCT in October 2023.
He took time out of training as a Research Fellow in the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (MATTU) at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. In this role, he completed a Medical Doctorate on Faecal Immunochemical Testing (FIT) through the University of Surrey. This research was recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons through the award of an Honorary Research Fellowship. He also won the Rosetrees Essay Prize and a publication in Colorectal Disease was one of the Wiley top-cited articles 2021-2022
After CCT, Mr Maclean undertook a Laparoscopic Fellowship at Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust before obtaining a consultant post here at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Maclean’s clinical interests are in minimally invasive surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery. He is the lead for colorectal robotic assisted surgery here at Kingston. He also performs Open Surgery (laparotomy), Hernia repair, Appendicectomy, Pilonidal Sinus surgery, Colonoscopy and Proctology (Haemorrhoid, Fistula and Fissure treatments).
