In July, Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust hosted an event for local secondary school pupils, aimed at inspiring the next generation of health and social care professionals.

The interactive session was delivered in collaboration with local partners including Your Healthcare, Roehampton University, and colleagues from local authorities and primary care.

A total of 100 year 8 pupils from The Holy Cross School, Chessington School, and Hollyfield School attended the event and through a series of hands-on activities and demonstrations from over 20 teams and services, the students explored a wide range of clinical and non-clinical careers and were able to experience a live simulation of a patient journey from GP practice, to hospital.

The event also provided an opportunity for students to gain insight into apprenticeship pathways, university courses, and the many rewarding opportunities available within our sector.

A representative from The Holy Cross School, commenting on engagement with the Trust, said, “You have all gone above and beyond to share your world, your knowledge and your insight. We had 91 students apply to university courses and 21 went on to study health, social, psychology or primary education - that’s 23% of our leavers going into courses linked to children and adults’ health and wellbeing. These figures demonstrate that your involvement has made a huge difference, and we are so grateful.”
