About us
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease team offers advice and treatment to anyone with a diagnosis of:
- Crohn’s disease
- ulcerative colitis
- microscopic colitis.
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Our team
We are a team of nurses with specialised training in the care of patients with IBD.
Our team comprises five specialist nurses and a coordinator.
We work closely with the following specialists:
- consultant gastroenterologists (liver and bowel doctors)
- dieticians
- surgeons
- radiologists
- obstetricians and midwives
- pharmacists.
What we offer
- Information and advice on managing a ‘flare’ of your IBD.
- In-person and telephone reviews at our IBD clinic.
- Prescriptions for your IBD medicines.
- Advice on managing your IBD medicines, including side effects and travel.
- A range of investigations, including blood tests, scans and endoscopic (inside your body) procedures.
- Direct referrals to other medical specialities when needed.
- Support during pregnancy.
What we do not offer
We do not offer advice or treatment for a symptom or condition not related to your IBD or IBD medicines.
We do not offer support on housing, PIP or insurance. Speak to your GP, who may offer this kind of support for a small fee.
We are not able to book or rearrange the following appointments:
- blood tests
- MRI
- gastroenterology outpatients
- endoscopy
- Medical Day Unit
