Acute Assessment Unit
About us
Keats Ward is the home to our Acute Stroke Unit. We care for you if you have been diagnosed with a stroke for the first time. You will be supported in your recovery by physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists as well as nurses. Rehabilitation activities can take place in the ward’s gym. There is also a day room where a lunch club meets several times a week.
All our patients receive a stroke handbook from their key worker. We can also provide you with information leaflets and fact sheets from The Stroke Association.
Keats also treats medical patients.
Visiting times
Patients can receive visitors between 8am and 8pm. There is no restriction on the amount of time visitors can stay, but they should usually leave by 8pm.
Ask the Nurse in Charge if you wish to visit someone outside usual visiting hours and they will try and accommodate your visit if it is not disruptive to others.
For more detailed guidelines about visiting please read information about visiting someone in hospital.
