About us
At The Wolverton, we provide a free, comprehensive and confidential sexual health, contraception and HIV service.

Here is a summary of some of our services:
- Advice, testing and treatment of STIs (sexually transmitted infections)
- Routine (pills, patch and ring) and Long Acting Reversible contraception (coil, implant and injection)
- Emergency contraception (Hormonal and IUD). If our service is closed hormonal emergency contraception (‘The Morning After Pill’) is also available from pharmacies
- Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV – treatment given following sexual exposure to HIV. This is also available from Emergency Departments out of hours if needed
- Free condoms
- Pregnancy testing and pregnancy options support
- Dedicated access for young people – The Point service
- Dedicated access for LGBTQ+ individuals
- Dedicated access for patients with learning difficulties – ask for The Connect service when you contact us
- Dedicated access for sex workers or those in the adult entertainment industry
- Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV – More information about PrEP is available here. If you would like to discuss PrEP please contact us and ask for the PrEP team.
- Follow up support for sexual assault. If you have recently been sexually assaulted please contact the police or a sexual assault referral centre for more immediate care
- Ongoing care for patients diagnosed with HIV, with a dedicated and experienced support team
- Specialist clinics for individuals with more complex sexual health conditions or needs; these are available following an initial (telephone) assessment with the clinic or by a direct referral from a GP or hospital consultant
Routine coil fitting
At The Wolverton we can insert and replace hormonal IUDs (e.g. Mirena, Levosert and Kyleena) and non-hormonal copper IUDs (5 or 10 year devices available) for patients with a uterus under the age of 55 years.
