Important information
You must have a responsible adult with you for 24 hours following your procedure. This includes staying with you overnight.
About anaesthetic and sedation
General anaesthetic means we put you to sleep.
Regional anaesthetic is applied to a particular part of your body.
Sedation means you feel sleepy, but are not fully asleep.
After your procedure
After your procedure, you may feel tired for a few days. This is normal, but will vary in each individual.
Stay at home and rest following the anaesthetic.
Everyday activities
Your judgement and co-ordination can be affected.
For 24 hours after your anaesthetic, do not:
- drive
- operate machinery (including kettles and cookers)
- make important decisions
- sign any important documents.
Food and drink
You can eat and drink (non-alcoholic drinks) as usual.
Avoid alcohol for 24 to 48 hours.
