About community follow-up appointments
If you have had cataract surgery, you will need routine follow-up appointments. These appointments allow clinicians to check on your progress after surgery.
These follow-up appointments, when appropriate, can take place at a local optician closer to your home, rather than in the hospital.
At your pre-assessment appointment, a member of the Royal Eye Unit team will discuss follow-up care options with you.
Making a follow-up appointment
Once you have been discharged following surgery, you will be notified which community optician will carry out this appointment.
They will contact you within 3 weeks to arrange an appointment. They will discuss your appointment time, explain where to go, and give you detailed directions, if required.
If you have not heard from them after 3 weeks, contact the Kingston Hospital Royal Eye Unit (see Contacts below).
Important information
If you experience loss of vision, pain or red eye following your surgery, contact our Acute Referral Clinic on 020 8934 6799.
