A lung nodule is a small round shadow that is seen on a CT scan (a medical imaging scan).

A person can have more than one lung nodule.

Lung nodules are common. Lots of people have them.

A lung nodule is caused by scarring from a previous lung infection.

A lung nodule can also be caused by other conditions.

Most lung nodules are not cancer.

Lung nodules do not grow.

If you need another CT scan, we will let you know when to attend for this scan.

We will send you a letter with a date and time of your scan  appointment.

A nurse will contact you with the results of your CT scan.

If the lung nodule has not grown, we may not need to see you again in hospital.

If the lung nodule has grown, we will give you some more tests.
