Neurodiversity information for parents and young people
Together you and your doctor or nurse have decided that you can wait at home and return tomorrow for treatment.
Our staff may refer to this process as ‘UTC Defer’ or ‘deferred care’.
Why you are returning tomorrow
We are experiencing very high demand.
Our clinical team has discussed your condition with you and confirmed it is safe for you to wait at home until tomorrow.
You can return tomorrow morning, when we will be less busy and able to spend more time with you.
There are many benefits of waiting at home.
- You will avoid spending many hours tonight waiting in the Emergency Department.
- You will be able to rest at home where you will be safe and more comfortable.
- You can return tomorrow when we are less busy.
- You will not have to wait to check in again tomorrow.
There are also benefits for others.
- It will help us focus on others who need urgent treatment tonight.
- It will keep the Emergency Department safe and less crowded.
Tell us if you would rather wait in the Emergency Department instead of returning tomorrow morning.
Transport
Your doctor or nurse should have discussed with you how you will get home and return tomorrow.
Tell us if you have any concerns about how you will manage this.
When you return tomorrow
You should return to the Emergency Department tomorrow between 8am and 9am.
Go straight to the main reception desk. You will then be directed to the Urgent Treatment Centre waiting area. You do not need to check in at the self check-in screen.
You will then wait to be seen. We hope to see, treat and send you home within a few hours.
If you feel unwell or get worse
